New York, N.Y., Oct. 30, 2015 –SMT (SportsMEDIA Technology),
the leading innovator in real-time data delivery and graphics solutions for the
sports and entertainment industries, today announced it is again providing
broadcast solutions on behalf of IMG Productions for Sunday’s 2015 TCS New York
City Marathon. This year marks the seventh that SMT has delivered its enhanced
graphics and social media broadcast technology for IMG, producers of the past
22 NYC Marathon broadcasts for the NYC Marathon.
New for this year’s broadcast is SMT’s Journey to the Marathon
Social CG system, a platform that allows viewers to follow the inspirational
stories of the estimated 50,000 runners through lower-third and full-screen
graphics containing short videos that recap a participant’s unique training
story.
Additional SMT broadcast elements include:
ISO Track, an on-screen pointer graphic that allows viewers
to identify and track featured athletes as they run through the city’s five
boroughs.
Common Man Crawl, a lower-screen race crawl that displays
the current place of elite men and women runners and wheelchair athletes as
well as every participant’s name as they cross the finish line. The crawl will also feature live fan tweets
via SMT’s DMX social media publisher.
Track Map, a full-screen graphic that will show viewers the
location of the leading men and women runners and wheelchair athletes.
Talent prompters that deliver historical and relevant data
to ESPN’s commentators.
“SMT continues to provide insightful broadcast technology
that helps us tell the stories of the world’s largest marathon,” said Gary
Critchlow, VP Production and EIC, IMG Productions. “As longtime partners, SMT
understands how to present information on-screen to help our viewers make sense
of and navigate a live event of this magnitude.”
“We are proud to
partner with the TCS New York City Marathon to bring the highest level of
broadcast solutions available to this year’s race,” said Dino Hall, Business
Development Manager for SMT. “Our broadcast production tools enable at-home
fans to experience the happenings on the 26.2-mile course through our dynamic
data-fed graphics.”
On Sunday, the marathon will be aired nationally beginning
