DURHAM, N.C., April. 29, 2015 – SMT (SportsMEDIA
Technology), the leading provider of data integration, graphics presentation
and video enhancement solutions to live sports and entertainment television and
events, is continuing its longstanding boxing relationships with Showtime
Sports and HBO Sports to deliver a new on-air graphics presentation integrating
the official clock information, punch statistics and social media for Saturday
night’s long-awaited Floyd Mayweather – Manny Pacquiao bout.
The joint venture between Showtime and HBO, the first since
2002’s Lennox Lewis-Mike Tyson heavyweight fight, meant collaborating with both
entities to create an entirely new branding and graphics design to support the
pay-per-view broadcast. SMT integrated the new graphics presentation into
constant on-air graphics software.
“With SMT at the helm of our broadcast graphic production,
we are confident the execution of the Mayweather-Pacquiao production will be
flawless for this truly unique event,” said Showtime’s Gordon Hall. “SMT has
been vital to our boxing broadcasts both with on-air graphics and information
displays for talent and production.”
“SMT helped to bridge the working relationship between HBO
and Showtime as we collaborated to create this new presentation for Saturday’s
match,” said Jason Cohen, HBO Sports vice president. “Utilizing SMT’s branding
and graphics background, we executed a graphics package that meshes both
networks’ identity while solidly promoting the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Showtime and HBO to bring
this production to viewers,” said Don Tupper, SMT’s vice president of business
development. “Our experienced team of broadcast specialists will be on-site,
working side-by-side with Showtime and HBO producers to provide seamless
production support for what is expected to be one of the all-time greatest
pay-per-view draws in the history of boxing.”
