By SMT staff
Durham, N.C., July 15, 2025 – SMT, the industry leader in real-time data delivery and graphics solutions for the sports and entertainment, is pleased to announce the promotion of Jon Kaczmarski to Vice President, Creative & Strategy of SMT Creative Studio. Kaczmarski has served as SMT’s Director of Creative & Strategy since joining the company in 2022.
SMT Creative Studio is a multi-disciplinary design group specializing in high-impact visual storytelling across broadcast, in-venue and digital platforms. With studios in Durham, N.C., Fremont, Calif., and Jacksonville, Fla., the team blends world-class design with leading-edge technology to create graphics solutions that are both visually stunning and deeply functional. Their work spans concept development, data integration, animation, UI/UX design, augmented and virtual reality, and venue-wide LED displays using tools such as Unreal Engine alongside SMT’s proprietary platforms.
Under Kaczmarski’s leadership, SMT Creative Studio has expanded its presence across top-tier sporting events with pioneering data-driven storytelling and audience engagement, including the broadcast debut of HUD and GhostCar for FOX’s IndyCar coverage. These tools, part of SMT’s Broadcast Analytics platform, bring dynamic 3D visualization and real-time telemetry to race coverage, enhancing storytelling for viewers. He also helped guide the UI design of SMT’s CARAT coach’s app. With its clean, intuitive interface and real-time performance insights, the app empowers coaches to make data-informed decisions during live tennis match play.
From initial concepting and storytelling to UI design, data visualization and technical implementation, Kaczmarski brings the full creative package. He is especially skilled at bridging the gap between SMT’s creative and engineering teams, helping to develop integrated solutions where real-time data fuels compelling, intuitive graphics. Whether designing a user interface, an insert package, or a venue-wide LED takeover, he ensures that both aesthetics and functionality are aligned.
In addition to broadcast innovation, Kaczmarski has expanded the studio’s role in enhancing on-site fan experiences at marquee global events. For premiere golf and tennis tournaments, for example, SMT Creative Studio delivers synchronized, stats-integrated animations across large-scale LED displays, transforming live match data into dynamic visuals that energize crowds and elevate presentation quality. The team also specializes in fan experiences such the first-of-its-kind 360-degree Circle LED displays for the Charleston Open and men’s U.S. Open Golf Championship that captivate fans with live tournament content, sponsor integrations, and real-time updates.
“Jon brings an unmatched combination of creativity, vision and technical expertise to SMT,” said Gerard J. Hall, SMT founder and CEO. “In just a few years, he has elevated our Creative Studio to new heights, driving innovation, expanding our capabilities and setting a new standard for sports broadcast storytelling. I am thrilled to see him step into this well-deserved role as vice president.”
Kaczmarski will continue to oversee all creative strategy and execution across SMT’s Creative Studio teams. His expanded role will focus on deepening collaboration across design, engineering and client services to develop next-level graphics and data-driven experiences for live sports broadcasts, in-venue presentations and digital content.
“I’m honored to take on this new role and proud to work with such a talented team,” Kaczmarski said. “We’re passionate about delivering graphics that do more than look good—they tell stories, reveal insights and enhance the fan experience in real-time. I look forward to continuing to push creative boundaries and deliver innovative solutions for our clients.”
Since joining SMT, Kaczmarski has led numerous high-profile initiatives, including Wimbledon’s Match Insight Segments, the U.S. Open Tennis Championship graphics package and 3D venue model, and the real-time NHL SPRITES app that combines 90s-style visuals with data integration.
Prior to SMT, he held senior creative roles at Fox Sports, Raycom Media and Gray Television.
Kaczmarski earned his B.F.A. in visual effects from Savannah College of Art and Design. He lives in Charlotte, N.C., with his wife, Lauren, their three children, and golden retriever, Rey.
